    Impact of Social Networks on Diffusion of Products

    In light of the rapid growth of social networks around the world, this study analyses the impact of social networks on the diffusion of products and demonstrates the effective way to diffuse products in the society where social networks play an important role. We construct a consumer behaviour model by multi-agent simulation taking the movie market as an example. After validating it by using data from 13 US movies, we conduct simulations. Our simulation results show that the impact of social networks on the diffusion differs according to the customers’ expectations and evaluation for a movie. We also demonstrate the effective weekly advertising budget allocations corresponding to the types of movies. We find that the difference of weekly advertising budget allocations gives greater impact on the diffusion with the growth of social networks. This paper provides firm’s managers with important suggestions for diffusion strategy considering the impact of social networks

    The Japanese space gravitational wave antenna; DECIGO

    DECi-hertz Interferometer Gravitational wave Observatory (DECIGO) is the future Japanese space gravitational wave antenna. DECIGO is expected to open a new window of observation for gravitational wave astronomy especially between 0.1 Hz and 10 Hz, revealing various mysteries of the universe such as dark energy, formation mechanism of supermassive black holes, and inflation of the universe. The pre-conceptual design of DECIGO consists of three drag-free spacecraft, whose relative displacements are measured by a differential Fabry– Perot Michelson interferometer. We plan to launch two missions, DECIGO pathfinder and pre- DECIGO first and finally DECIGO in 2024

    DECIGO pathfinder (DPF) is a milestone satellite mission for DECIGO (DECi-hertz Interferometer Gravitational wave Observatory) which is a future space gravitational wave antenna. DECIGO is expected to provide us fruitful insights into the universe, in particular about dark energy, a formation mechanism of supermassive black holes, and the inflation of the universe. Since DECIGO will be an extremely large mission which will formed by three drag-free spacecraft with 1000m separation, it is significant to gain the technical feasibility of DECIGO before its planned launch in 2024. Thus, we are planning to launch two milestone missions: DPF and pre-DECIGO. The conceptual design and current status of the first milestone mission, DPF, are reviewed in this article

    DECIGO (DECi-hertz Interferometer Gravitational wave Observatory) is the planned Japanese space gravitational wave antenna, aiming to detect gravitational waves from astrophysically and cosmologically significant sources mainly between 0.1 Hz and 10 Hz and thus to open a new window for gravitational wave astronomy and for the universe. DECIGO will consists of three drag-free spacecraft arranged in an equilateral triangle with 1000 km arm lengths whose relative displacements are measured by a differential Fabry-Perot interferometer, and four units of triangular Fabry-Perot interferometers are arranged on heliocentric orbit around the sun. DECIGO is vary ambitious mission, we plan to launch DECIGO in era of 2030s after precursor satellite mission, B-DECIGO. B-DECIGO is essentially smaller version of DECIGO: B-DECIGO consists of three spacecraft arranged in an triangle with 100 km arm lengths orbiting 2000 km above the surface of the earth.     Pulmonary tumor thrombotic microangiopathy during good response to immuno-chemotherapy for advanced non-small cell lung cancer: a case report

    Abstract Background Pulmonary tumor thrombotic microangiopathy is a rapidly progressive and fatal disease in which tumor cells embolize to the pulmonary microvasculature. This condition is characterized by severe dyspnea and right heart failure. Although pulmonary tumor thrombotic microangiopathy typically occurs in patients with untreated and/or advanced cancer, its occurrence in patients who are responding well to medical therapy is poorly documented. Case presentation A 68-year-old Japanese woman who had received four cycles of immuno-chemotherapy (pembrolizumab, carboplatin, and pemetrexed) followed by three cycles of maintenance therapy (pembrolizumab and pemetrexed) for advanced non-small cell lung cancer and had achieved a partial response with a stable clinical course was admitted to the emergency ward because of worsening breathlessness and general fatigue for 1 week. Chest computed tomography showed no evidence of tumor progression or any new lung lesion. Two-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography demonstrated right atrial and ventricular dilatation, tricuspid regurgitation, and a high trans-tricuspid pressure gradient of 65 mmHg. Despite her percutaneous oxygen saturation being 96% on room air at the time of admission, it worsened rapidly; the patient requiring 8 L/min of oxygen within 4 h. Repeat computed tomography with contrast medium revealed no evidence of pulmonary embolism. The patient developed progressive respiratory failure that was unresponsive to optimal cardio-pulmonary supportive therapy. An autopsy revealed tumorous clusters in pre-capillary lung vessels, whereas the primary lesion had shrunk to the point of almost complete resolution. Conclusion Pulmonary tumor thrombotic microangiopathy occurs not only in patients with advanced and/or uncontrolled cancer but also in those whose primary lesion seems to have been well controlled by medical treatment

    Synthesis of Small Peptide Nanogels Using Radiation Crosslinking as a Platform for Nano-Imaging Agents for Pancreatic Cancer Diagnosis

    Nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems (DDS) have been developed as effective diagnostic and low-dose imaging agents. Nano-imaging agents with particles greater than 100 nm are difficult to accumulate in pancreatic cancer cells, making high-intensity imaging of pancreatic cancer challenging. Peptides composed of histidine and glycine were designed and synthesized. Additionally, aqueous peptide solutions were irradiated with γ-rays to produce peptide nanogels with an average size of 25–53 nm. The mechanisms underlying radiation-mediated peptide crosslinking were investigated by simulating peptide particle formation based on rate constants. The rate constants for reactions between peptides and reactive species produced by water radiolysis were measured using pulse radiolysis. HGGGHGGGH (H9, H—histidine; G—glycine) particles exhibited a smaller size, as well as high formation yield, stability, and biodegradability. These particles were labeled with fluorescent dye to change their negative surface potential and enhance their accumulation in pancreatic cancer cells. Fluorescent-labeled H9 particles accumulated in PANC1 human pancreatic cancer cells, demonstrating that these particles are effective nano-imaging agents for intractable cancers

    Effects of the Dental Caries Preventive Procedure on the White Spot Lesions during Orthodontic Treatment—An Open Label Randomized Controlled Trial

    (1) Background: The aim of this study was to assess the preventive effect of tooth surface disinfection treatment, in addition to fluoride application, during fixed orthodontic treatment. (2) Methods: An open label randomized control trial for the evaluation of the dental caries preventive procedure was performed for the patients with high caries risk who had been visited at Department of Orthodontics, Tsurumi University Dental Hospital for orthodontics treatment. The follow-up period was six months. White spot lesions (WSLs) were evaluated by quantitative light-induced fluorescence (QLF). Cariogenic bacteria were monitored and evaluated by bacterial culture. In addition, the oral microbiome was evaluated by a next-generation sequence (NGS). (3) Results: By the mixed effect modeling, tooth surface disinfection treatment significantly reduced cariogenic bacteria and all parameters obtained by QLF. (4) Conclusions: Tooth surface disinfection treatment, in addition to PMTC and fluoride application, were effective for dental caries prevention and keeping a healthy microbiome during orthodontic treatment
